Mini Projects

🎧 Episode 1 – Inside the World of Anesthesiology

Have you ever thought about what actually happens in the operating room — before the surgery begins? In our very first episode, we sat down with an anesthesiologist to uncover the often-overlooked side of medicine: the people who keep you safe and pain-free while you’re unconscious.

Now it’s your turn to dive deeper! This week’s mini project invites you to look beyond what you already know and discover some surprising facts about the world of anesthesiology.

⸻

🧠 Mini Project: “5 Things You Didn’t Know About Anesthesiologists”

Your challenge:
Make a short list of five facts about anesthesiologists that most people don’t know. These can be things you learned from our episode, through your own research, or even by talking to someone in the medical field.

💡 Here are some guiding questions to get you started:
   •    What does an anesthesiologist really do during surgery?
   •    What kind of training do they go through?
   •    How do they monitor patients?
   •    What are the risks and responsibilities of their job?
   •    How do they stay calm under pressure?

Feel free to be creative! You can make a list, write short explanations, or even design a mini infographic if you’re feeling inspired.

🎧 Episode 2 – The Mind of an Economist
Have you ever wondered why prices rise, what inflation actually is, or how world events affect your daily life? In our second episode, we talked to an economist who helped us understand the economy — in a way that actually makes sense.

Now it’s your turn to think like an economist! This week’s mini project challenges you to step into the world of budgeting, decision-making, and adapting to financial surprises.

⸻

🧠 Mini Project: “Teen Budget Challenge: Living on a Monthly Budget”

Your challenge:
Create a realistic monthly budget as if you’re living on your own and earning minimum wage. Then… get ready for an unexpected economic twist!

💸 Step-by-step instructions:
   1.    Imagine you’re living alone and working a basic job. Choose a small monthly income (e.g., 10,000–15,000 TL or minimum wage in your country).
   2.    Create a budget covering:
  • Housing (rent, utilities)
  • Food & groceries
  • Transportation
  • Internet/phone
  • Entertainment or hobbies
  • Savings
   3.    Now here’s the twist:
We’ll throw in a surprise “economic event” — like sudden inflation, a rent increase, or job loss.
Update your budget to adapt to the situation.

💡 What you’ll learn:
This project helps you:
– See how real people make difficult financial choices
– Understand how quickly the economy can affect your life
– Build empathy, planning skills, and money awareness

✨ Want to be creative?
Turn your budget into a visual chart or infographic. Or write a short reflection: What was the hardest part of budgeting? How did the surprise event change your plan?

🎧 Episode 3 – Lessons from a Lifetime

In this episode, we sat down with someone who’s lived through decades of change, challenge, and wisdom. It reminded us that some of the most valuable lessons don’t come from screens or lectures — they come from real stories, shared face to face.

Now it’s your turn to start a conversation that matters. This week’s mini project invites you to learn from someone older in your life — and pass that wisdom on.

⸻

🧠 Mini Project: “Generations Connect”
Your challenge:
Have a meaningful conversation with an elderly person in your family, neighborhood, or community. Ask them about their youth, dreams, struggles, and advice for younger generations. Listen deeply — and learn something you can’t Google.

💬 Questions you can ask:
  • What was life like when you were younger?
  • What are you most proud of in your life?
  • What values do you think are being forgotten today?
  • What advice would you give to your younger self — or to us?

✨ How to share what you learn:
You can reflect on the conversation by:
  • Writing a short story or summary
  • Creating a drawing or collage
  • Recording a voice memo
  • Or simply telling a friend what you learned

The goal is to keep these voices alive — and to remind ourselves that every generation has something to teach.

🎧 Episode 4 – Across Borders: The Real Study Abroad Experience

What is it really like to study in another country — far from home, friends, and everything familiar? In this episode, we spoke to an international student currently studying in the U.S. about homesickness, culture shock, friendships, and the unexpected joys of life abroad.

Now it’s your turn to reflect. This week’s mini project invites you to imagine the experience before you live it — and prepare with a clear mind and an open heart.

⸻

🧠 Mini Project: “Study Abroad Starter Pack”

Your challenge:
Create your own Study Abroad Starter Pack — a visual, written, or creative list of what students really need to know before going abroad.

📦 Your pack should include:
– 5 emotional truths no one tells you
– 3 unexpected challenges you might face
– 4 things that make it all worth it

💡 You can base your ideas on:
– Our episode
– Your own thoughts or research
– Advice from someone who studied abroad
– Or your imagination!

🎨 Want to be creative?
You can design your pack as a collage, infographic, digital post, or even a small zine. Or simply write it out as a thoughtful checklist.

The goal is to empathize, prepare, and inspire future international students — including your future self.

🎧 Episode 5 – Through the Eyes of the Next Generation
What do middle schoolers really think about school, pressure, and growing up? In this episode, we talked to Ecem — an 8th grader — about life through her eyes, and why listening to younger voices matters more than we think.

Now it’s your turn to stop talking — and start listening. This week’s mini project invites you to sit down with someone younger and learn from their world.

⸻
🧠 Mini Project: “Ask a Younger Me”
Your challenge:
Have a meaningful conversation with a middle school student. Ask them what it’s like to grow up today — and truly listen to what they say.

💬 Sample questions to guide your talk:
  • What’s your biggest stress at school?
  • What do you wish older students or adults understood better?
  • What makes you feel happy or supported?
  • What do you want your future to look like?
  • What’s one thing you’d change in the world?

📖 What to do next:
Turn that conversation into something meaningful. You can:
  • Write a short reflection
  • Design a creative quote board
  • Record a short voice memo
  • Create a “youth advice” booklet or post
You’re not just documenting — you’re amplifying a younger voice.

💡 What you’ll learn:
– That age doesn’t define insight
– That everyone has something to say — if we let them
– That you were once younger too, and still have more to learn

✨ Want to be creative?
Make it visual! Turn your project into a poster, zine, collage, or digital story.

🎧 Episode 6 – Medicine & Mission: Voices from Ethiopia
This week, we partnered with Medicine4Youth Ethiopia for an eye-opening conversation about healthcare, resilience, and purpose.
Now it’s your turn to reflect — and imagine your own impact.

⸻
🧠 Mini Project: “My Future in Medicine” – Global Youth Reflection Challenge

Your challenge:
Write a one-page reflection or film a short video answering this question:

💭 “How could I contribute to the future of healthcare — locally or globally?”

📘 You can talk about:
– Your personal dreams or career goals
– Health-related challenges in your community
– People or events that inspired you to care
– What kind of healthcare world you want to help build

✨ Want to be creative?
You can turn your project into:
– A short essay or blog post
– A video diary or voice memo
– A digital collage, quote board, or even a mini poster

The goal is to think big, dream forward, and see how your story fits into a global mission.
